Christianity Loosing Ground On Internet

Google Trends is a site that lets anyone look for trends in the billions and billions of searches performed on Google. When we start to trend keywords like God, Christian, and bible something immediately jumps out. While God is still searched for quite a bit, with relatively little change, phrases like Christian, Christianity, and Bible are on a decline.

What makes this even more interesting is that during this period the population of users on the Internet has grown significantly. So, what we see here is level search volume for God and declining search volume Christian and Bible which translates to an overall decline in people searching for these phrases.

These numbers shouldn't be surprising. They reflect other recently released statistics about the population. But, it does show Christianity loosing ground on the Internet.

Try doing a google trends

Try doing a google trends search with the word "christian" instead of "Christianity" and you'll see an interesting difference. The search phrase "Christian" far outpaces the other three terms, although it too is on the decline.

Downward Trend

I did look up "christian" as well as a number of others. The trend rather than the volume is what catches my eye. This is a sign that's staring us in the face.
